Hi all,

 

I really liked David Jordan, he has an amazing talent and his music is great. but what an idoit!! saying on national radio that he works harder then nurses, doctors, fireman and police!!!

Im a nurse and i work for the NHS,and i really doubt he has ever had a days work that is equal to what a any of the above do! not to mention that he is paid alot of money to do!!

 My dad is in the music industry and i have grown up around very famous musicians and so have am insight to the musicans average day.

 fair enough Mr Jordan you have to stay in hotels and dont have your home comforts but at least you are not risking your life for others, getting physically and verbally abused or having to tell a mother that her young child has just died!

Perhaps next time he should think about wots he says to a national audience as im sure he has lost a lot of fans!

Thanks for your report on this which I had no chance to listen to, being at work on weekdays.

I do believe the words said by an honest fan like you but can hardly stomach they were from Mr Jordan himself.  Although I'm his mother figure and now a sort of fan-to-little-friend, I regret I'm in no position to advise him on this.  For any good careers, you either have to be born with an incredible talent like Mr Jordan's or study hard to earn qualification like yours.  Stars selling us dreams is for one thing but this society's keyworkers are quite another without which unable to function.  But I believe the latter are the ones who really should be rewarded.  You must be grateful to your father for the true knowledge to the music business.  I hope Mr Jordan will find your post soon enough, however, please understand he's a young man who's found fame almost overnight and still adjusting himself in stardom.  I can appreciate he's probably struggled more than average youngster around his age in both his career and personal life to achieve his current status.

Dont get me wrong I understand that he is young and may of found stardom overnight, and listening to the interview he sounds like a very upfront and honest guy., and maybe he is too inexperienced to realise that when he makes a statement like that on national radio that millions of people are listening and some of those millions are doctors/nurses/firefighters etc... and for example like me are being paid £20,000 pounds a year and have still got the fresh memory of holding a mans hand as his life is ebbing away trying to tell him its gonna be ok as he is mouthing help me. but then to hear a celeb whos complaint is having to stay in a hotel, saying his work is harder then ours! i would not dream of ever saying that i work harder then someone else unless i had worked that job.

I do not think there is any excuse for berating any kind of key worker, and i only hope that he never has to be on the other side. I think he should perhaps go and visit a A&E department on a saturday night and witness how hard we work and the kind of crap we put up with.

I not only studied hard for my qualification but I have talent also, our jobs can not simply be learnt.

 

on a good note Davids version of stop and stare was amazing, and he has wicked talent, i just hope he will realise what and effect he could have on people.

I think anyone who has changed their opinion on him shoud think again. he's a lovely down to earth chap, which is hard to find these days!

Well said and explained.  I didn't feel Mr Jordan sounded he'd worked harder than keyworkers in that interview but he was managing himself well in constant attention by the media.  I hope Ellie's understood you as Mr Jordan's spokesman.

Hi Ellie - Further to your comment about David Jordan and essential workers ; I said that all the workers in your industry are really appreciated and valued. Slightly off the subject of David Jordan, I want to repeat my admiration for staff in hospitals as my girlfriend has just had a minor operation at Hayward's Heath NHS hospital yesterday and ALL the staff we had contact with, about 8 in all, were relentlessly cheerful, thoughful and compassionate. It is the TRUE face of caring when you are put in that situation and moved around, asked dozens of questions, needles inserted, food and drink brought to you, as well as the operation. My earlier endorsement of you in your career has been borne out by vicarious experience.  I just want to say thank you, again, for all that you do for people when they are at the neediest and their lowest ebb. My girlfriend is back home and I am now the nurse, I hope I can do as good a job as you professionals in caring for her in her recovery. I did see that David Jordan has posted a reply and given a pretty good explanation of his remarks which started this discussion. It would be nice to think that you could accept his explanation and give recognition to hard work in all it's forms. We all give, don't we Ellie ? Sometimes it's nice to give someone a thumbs up for their efforts. Best wishes and good luck with ALL THOSE hospital forms.

 Im really happy that you and your girlfriend had a positive experience with the NHS and are able to compliment an industry to which i feel passionatley about. I have to say words can not explain how amazing it makes me feel when i hear compliments like the above, it makes me believe in humanity.

The thing is as a nurse and im sure this will apply in all areas, but all to often in the newspapers, to each other, people only ever seem to complain and it is very rare to get a letter of thank you or any kinda "fan mail"! we are not rewarded with bonuses, or incentives, we dont get company cars or lunches, in fact the only free lunch we get is a hospital christmas dinner!! so our reward is when someone says " thanks, you made a horrible situation a little better for me/family". im sure this applies with david Jrodan as well in the sense that im sure he works his ass off and sometimes feels that there is no or little appreiation (excuse spelling), but all he has to do is come on to somewhere like here and look at the compliments and adoration in his fans. wheres my fansite!!!?? (joking)

David Jordan does not need me to accept his explanation and i fully respect and understand everyone gives and most (I say most cos there are some lazybums) people work hard.

perhaps my opening statement was a little harsh and i shouldnt of called David Jordan an idoit and for that i apologise. but his reply is a little too defensive for my liking.

 

Ahh, Ellie, you do sound as if you have come around a bit and can see things from the David Jordan point of view. As to his  "defensive " reply as you describe it, isn't this where we came in ? You "defended " nursing staff, and very well too, so maybe we can lift ourselves up and say, " OK, I hear what you say, and fair enough too, David Jordan "  Would this not be an example of the aforementioned, compassion, humanity, understanding, etc. ? We can only teach humility by example, it has to start somewhere. It's just a thought, Ellie, and yes, I am playing with you a bit but the essence of truth is in there too. I have been given the thumbs - up from my girlfriend, by the way, for my nursing skills so I'm learning all that compassion and caring stuff as I go along. If only we could ALL learn to do to others as we would have done to us, it would be a lovely world. Go on Ellie, let David Jordan know how you see his side of things. I watch with interest. Hope we all end up smiling at the end of this.  :-)   Grant.
